Health conscious consumers cutting back on meat are looking for natural, healthy, inexpensive vegan protein options and chefs/cooks are looking for solutions.

BOULDER, CO, US, June 26, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Are you attempting to consume more plant proteins as part of a healthy diet or a chef looking for a simple, high quality, inexpensive, and high protein solution, but don’t know where to start? Do you know how to calculate how much protein you need for your body weight? The answer is simple and approachable regardless of your culinary skills or food budget.

The sustainable perfect plant protein for human consumption and rarely seen, if ever, on commercial food service menu as a center plate entrée are pulses (beans, peas, and lentils). As a professional chef and vegan since 1976 only once did a restaurant serve me pulses and only after returning the cup of vegetables poised as the entrée. Pulses are often served with meat but not in place meat as an entrée. There are two reasons why.
• Chefs and general public are not generally aware of the dynamic nutritional value of beans and
pulses as a “Balanced Protein”

• Chef’s and cooks have not yet learned how to translate low perceived value beans into
savory slice-able high value nutrient protein.

Pulses Superior Source of Protein.
• One (1) cup cooked pinto beans has 15 grams of protein or 25% of daily requirement for 150 lb. person

• Superior Source of complex carbohydrates, dietary fiber & Fat

• Combined with a grain, beans are a complete protein

• Beans are sustainable source of protein nourishing the soil with nitrogen

• Easy to prepare

Cooking technique solutions
Beans need one or more plant based carrier ingredients to give them texture and binding qualities to create a slice-able entrée protein. A firm polenta with roasted chopped nuts is a good example of a slice-able protein. Beans work well in plant and meatloaf (vegan or with meat). In working and developing a few plant based cooking techniques to integrate pulsed into center plate entrees I have come up with some simple solutions exemplified in the pictures.
.
How does one calculate their daily protein needs?
The American Dietetic Association (ADA) formula is: Divide your body weight in pounds (i.e. 150 lbs.) by 2.2. (kilogram) which is 68 kilograms. Multiply that number by .8. We need .8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight. Your protein need would be 54 grams of protein. The fifteen grams of protein in a cup of pinto beans covers 25% of the protein needs for the 150 lb. person.

The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization bean support
The UN FAO believes that pulses are the sustainable protein for humanity, especially 3rd world countries, and food security and sustainability. The UN FAO declared 2016 The International Year of The Pulse and February 10th, 2019 the first International Day of the Pulse in its support of pulse education. Lux International stated that plant protein has a 9% potential growth rate over the next 40 years and the increase in plant based burgers is confirmation.

For more information on how to ingrate beans into your vegan or traditional meat menu as a center plate entrée go to American Natural Foods.org, a non-profit whose mission is plant-based culinary education, and contact Chef Ron Pickarski who 46 years a professional chef and 43 years a vegan chef for help. Chef Pickarski is a vegan Culinologist, consultant, and president of Eco-Cuisine, authored 3 books on vegan cuisine, and won 7 medal (gold, silver, and bronze with vegan cuisine at the International Culinary Olympics. His recent Book “The Classical Vegetarian Cookbook for Professional Chefs and Inspired Cooks” is available at www.eco-cuisine.com He currently works with the Colorado Dry Bean Board developing beans as center plate entrees.

Defending Democracy from Cyber Warfare

Foreign meddling in democratic elections, fake news and national security threats by the ‘weaponisation of social media’ tackled by a new research Centre.

Our nations — both separately and together—must operate in new ways to preserve our values and protect our people and allies in new battle spaces.”

— Ambassador Jeff Bleich

ADELAIDE, SOUTH AUSTRALIA, AUSTRALIA, June 26, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Adelaide, Australia: 26 June 2019 Foreign meddling in democratic elections, the proliferation of fake news and threats to national security through the ‘weaponisation of social media’ will be tackled by a new research Centre at Flinders University.

The Jeff Bleich Centre for the US Alliance in Digital Technology, Security, and Governance will be the first research centre in Australia to adopt a multidisciplinary approach to social science by bringing together the three key areas of technology, security, governance.

Based in the Flinders University College of Business, Government and Law, it will undertake research in areas of mutual concern to Australia and the United States to improve the capacity of governments and industry to respond to these cyber challenges and threats.

This includes digital media manipulation in fostering divisions in civil society, challenging national security and contesting democratic governance.

The Centre’s launch coincides with the release of the latest Lowy Institute Annual Poll ranking cyber security as the most significant threat to Australia’s vital interests after climate change.

The Jeff Bleich Centre is named in honour of Ambassador Jeff Bleich, Special Counsel to President Barack Obama and a diplomat who served as Ambassador to Australia from 2009 to 2013.

Ambassador Bleich, a long-time friend of Flinders University, is tonight being named a Flinders Professorial Fellow, becoming Professor Jeff Bleich in addition to his other titles.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Colin Stirling says the Centre will create opportunities for industry, particularly defence, government and NGOs to work with Flinders University to address current and emerging issues in cybersecurity.

“It will consolidate Flinders University’s research expertise and strengths in digital technologies, security and governance, and build upon Flinders existing strengths in US policy studies and the university’s strong US alliance”, Professor Stirling says.

“The Centre aligns with the South Australian and Federal Governments’ cyber security plans and will further strengthen South Australia’s position as Australia’s Defence State.

“The Jeff Bleich Centre will undertake research to identify reforms, including regulatory models, that preserve the gains of the digital revolution, but enhance the protection of democratic freedoms, and restore trust in the institutions of democratic societies,” he says.

The digital revolution has initiated societal change on a scale comparable to the invention of the printing press and the arrival of the industrial revolution, but while the cyber revolution offers incalculable benefit, there have also been high costs.

The disruptive costs of the digital revolution on democracy have been high, largely unanticipated and only recently addressed as some have escalated into crises.

Ambassador Bleich says these have included deliberate efforts to impair individual, corporate and government decision-making through corrupt, distorted, or false information campaigns.

“We know that the advent of digital technology has fundamentally changed the way we each work, eat, shop, and live. But it has also changed our societies and how we defend ourselves.

“Our nations — both separately and together—must operate in new ways to preserve our values and protect our people and allies in new battle spaces.

“This is the mission of the Jeff Bleich Centre for the US Alliance in Digital Technology, Security, and Governance.

“Flinders is the ideal home for the Centre with its long-term track record in American studies, its focus on disruptive technologies, and its successful bi-national programs,” Ambassador Bleich says.

The Jeff Bleich Centre has been established by Flinders University with additional funding from private sector donors and will be seeking to grow through philanthropic support, additional external fundraising, and research contracts.

A five-member Advisory Board will be appointed to provide strategic guidance and direction for the Centre.

Note: The Lowy Institute has today released its 2019 Annual Poll revealing 62% of Australians regard cyber security is regarded as a critical threat to Australia’s interests. The Poll also examines attitudes to the Australia-US alliance.

Florida US Navy Veterans Mesothelioma Advocate Urges A Navy Veteran with Mesothelioma in Florida to Aim High for Compensation and to Call Them for Instant Access to Attorney Erik Karst of KvO to Get the Job Done

"If a Navy Veteran in Florida with mesothelioma would call us at 800-714-0303 we will do everything possible to make certain they are talking directly with famed mesothelioma attorney Erik Karst." ”

— Florida US Navy Veterans Mesothelioma Advocate

TAMPA, FLORIDA, USA, June 26, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — According to the Florida US Navy Veterans Mesothelioma Advocate, "Most Navy Veterans with mesothelioma in Florida were probably not exposed to asbestos on a navy ship or submarine in Florida. It is much more likely the Navy Veteran was exposed to asbestos on a navy ship or submarine based in Virginia, Connecticut, California, Washington, or Hawaii. We are advocates for Navy Veterans with mesothelioma and our top priority for people like this is that they receive the very best possible financial compensation as we would like to discuss.

"If a Navy Veteran in Florida with mesothelioma or their family members would call us at 800-714-0303 we will do everything possible to make certain they are talking directly with famed mesothelioma attorney Erik Karst or his remarkable colleagues at Karst von Oiste. Karst von Oiste is one of the nation's premier mesothelioma law firms and they consistently get the best mesothelioma compensation for their US Navy Veteran clients-coast to coast." https://Florida.USNavyMesothelioma.Com

The Florida US Navy Veterans Mesothelioma Advocate is urging a Navy Veteran with mesothelioma in Florida or any other state to do the three following things to maximize their financial compensation:

1. "Get organized. Please try to list the places on a ship, submarine or at a navy shipyard where you could have been exposed to asbestos. Try to be as specific as possible. This is vital information because it becomes the basis for your mesothelioma compensation claim."

2. "Do you recall the name of a shipmate who witnessed your exposure to asbestos? This is a super big deal."

3. "Before a Navy Veteran or their family hires a lawyer or law firm to assist with a mesothelioma compensation claim please call us at 800-714-0303 so we can provide you with direct access to attorney Erik Karst of the law firm of Karst von Oiste. We want a Navy Veteran with mesothelioma to receive the best compensation. Attorney Erik Karst should be able to make this happen." www.karstvonoiste.com/

The Florida US Navy Veterans Mesothelioma Advocate offers their free services to US Navy Veterans with mesothelioma in Miami, Jacksonville, Tampa, Saint Petersburg, Orlando, Hialeah, Fort Lauderdale, Tallahassee, Port Saint Lucie, Cape Coral or anywhere in Florida. https://Florida.USNavyMesothelioma.Com

For the best possible treatment options in Florida the Florida US Navy Veterans Mesothelioma Advocate strongly recommends the following heath care facility with the offer to help a diagnosed Veteran, or their family get to the right physicians at the following hospital.

* The H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida: http://moffitt.org

* The VA-For a state by state listing of VA Medical Centers nationwide please visit their website: https://www.va.gov/ directory/ guide/FindLocations.cfm.

Every US Navy ship vessel built up to 1980 contained asbestos. Extreme exposure to asbestos may have occurred to US Navy Veterans if they were assigned to a navy ship's engine room, as a machinists mate, electrician, plumber/pipefitter, mechanic, in engineering, as a repair crew member, as a crew member on a nuclear submarine or as a member of the Navy Seabees. Additionally, a US Navy Veteran could have received extreme exposure to asbestos if they were required to stay on their ship or submarine for a major repair, overhaul or retrofit at a shipyard. Asbestos exposure was so extreme on US Navy ships and submarines, about one third of all US citizens diagnosed with mesothelioma each year are Veterans of the US Navy. https://USNavyMesothelioma.Com

The states with the highest incidence of mesothelioma include Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, Michigan, Illinois, Minnesota, Louisiana, Washington, and Oregon.www. karstvonoiste.com/

WOODBRIDGE, VIRGINIA, REALTOR® JASON MERO EARNS HIS REAL ESTATE BROKER’S LICENSE

“The Broker’s License is a Top Tier Designation in Residential Real Estate and it requires over 180 hours of training, which is great because with this knowledge I can better help my clients.”

— Jason Mero

WOODBRIDGE, VIRGINIA, USA, June 25, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Jason Mero is an awe-inspiring, exemplary and accomplished Real Estate agent at Weichert Realtors® in Woodbridge, Virginia. He is also a retired United States Army Veteran and recently obtained his Broker’s License. He says, “The extra coursework covers topics such as ethics, contracts, taxes, and insurance at a more in-depth level than what’s taught in a real estate agent pre-licensing course. Also, I learned more about real estate legal issues and how the law applies to operating a brokerage, real estate investments, construction, and property management. As a result, I have a more in-depth knowledge of the real estate business which can help me serve my clients with their real estate needs.

Jason was born in Auburn, New York, and was a volunteer Fireman and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) at age 17, before graduating from Auburn High School. He also joined the National Guard while still in high school and then became Active-Duty in the Army in 1994.

Jason went to Fort Benning in Georgia for basic training and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) his first Active-Duty Station was at Fort Knox, where he was assigned to the only deployable Infantry Brigades. He transferred to Korea and stationed at Camp Greaves. He says, “We supported the Demilitarized Zones (DMZ), joint security activities and the UN forces. We were the Quick Reaction Force (QRF), capable of rapid response to developing situations and had equipment ready to respond to any type of emergency.”

Jason then transferred to Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama to attend the Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) school and was selected as a Bomb Specialist.

Jason then changed Duty Stations to Tooele Army Depot in Utah before deploying to Kosovo. “We supported NATO forces there supporting the Counter Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) mission.” He states, “We investigated and gathered evidence from house bombings and turned it over to the NATO forces.” He then returned to Fort Irwin to clear, then relocated to Fort Drum in New York.

While at Fort Drum, Jason supported the local law enforcement in New York, Pennsylvania and Vermont. He also worked with the Secret Service and the United States Department, protecting foreign Dignitaries, the President of the United States, The Vice President and their families, including the First Ladies. This involved searches for hazardous device in hotel rooms, travel routes, restaurants and anywhere else the officials would have to go.

Jason then deployed to Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, came back to the U.S. briefly, and was redeployed to Iraq in 2003. “In Kuwait, we supported the Military forces going into Afghanistan, with all of their shipments going through clearances. We conducted training operations and secured the Naval piers, making sure there were no hazardous devices there. We cleared the routes for the Military convoys moving to and from different points. We also cleared areas for additional camps to be built to assist with the creation of Forward Operating Bases.”

Jason then rotated back to Fort Drum and trained for additional overseas missions. He then deployed back to Kuwait to go into Iraq to support the 101st Division out of Fort Campbell, and the 3rd Infantry out of Fort Benning.

Jason served in Mosul before returning to America, where he changed Duty-Stations to Picatinny Arsenal, New Jersey. Here, Jason took on a research and development role. He says, “Our main function was to develop procedures for our EOD Soldiers in the field. Any new Military equipment was designed, tested and developed including unmanned ground vehicles.”

Jason was soon deployed back to Afghanistan to do counter-insurgency, counter-terrorism and counter-IED tactics. He was in our nation’s front line on terrorism: small cells of highly trained, passionately committed investigators, analysts, linguists, tactics experts, and other specialists from dozens of U.S. law enforcement and intelligence agencies, uniting together in the line of fire – far away from home. When it comes to investigating terrorism, they do it all: chase down leads, gather evidence, detain suspects, provide security for special events, conduct training, collect and share intelligence, and respond to threats and incidents at a moment’s notice. As Jason puts it: “We eliminate the bad guys…”

When Jason returned to the U.S., he was sent out to different conferences to talk about his experiences overseas. He then went to Korea for a year assigned as a First Sergeant in the only Army EOD unit in Korea. His responsibilities included supporting NATO forces on the peninsula. His organization supported the US Secret Service and State Department assisting with the protection of V.I.P.’s. He trained, led the Company, mentored the team leaders and made sure they were prepared to go out on their missions to support full spectrum EOD operations.

Jason returned to Fort Belvoir in Virginia and supported the Washington D.C. Capitol region, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and the DoD’s Secret Service missions. He then went to Fort Lee to assist with the further development of EOD. He assisted with doctrine and equipment development – and retired in 2003 after a stellar and dangerous Military career, in service of his country.

Jason is married to his beautiful wife, Melinda and they have two wonderful children, Rian and Lucus. He decided to become a Real Estate agent because he wanted to help guide and mentor fellow Military members and their families in finding homes, since it was always a challenge for him. It was a natural progression for him.

Jason’s areas of service in Northern Virginia are Woodbridge, Fairfax Station, Fort Belvoir, Mclean, Springfield, Stafford, and Vienna.
