ARLINGTON, VA, USA, January 28, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — The Presidential Leadership Scholars (PLS) program announced this week that the National Association of Veteran Serving Organization’s (NAVSO) Chief Operating Officer, Kelly Finn Störmer, has been selected as one of the 60 Scholars chosen for the program’s sixth annual class. PLS serves as a catalyst for a diverse network of leaders brought together to collaborate and make a difference in the world as they learn about leadership through the lens of the presidential experiences of George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush, and Lyndon B. Johnson.

The sixth class was selected after a rigorous application and review process. Scholars were selected based on their leadership growth potential and their personal leadership projects aimed at improving civic engagement or social good by addressing a problem or need in their community.
Over the course of six months, Scholars will travel to each participating presidential center to learn from former presidents, key former administration officials, business and civic leaders, and leading academics. They will study and put into practice varying approaches to leadership and exchange ideas to help strengthen their impact in their communities. The program kicks off, today, January 28th in Washington, D.C.

The latest class joins an active network of 298 Scholars who are applying lessons learned through the program to make a difference in the U.S. and around the world. Examples of these Scholar-led efforts include providing employment and mentorship to veterans, helping adjudicated youth to improve job skills and attain a positive self-image, empowering clinicians to speak with patients about safe storage of firearms, and deploying much needed resources in the wake of natural disasters.
Since the program began in 2015, Scholars have consistently reported remarkable growth in leadership skills, responsibilities, and opportunities for impact. For example, 91 percent of Scholars reported their sense of confidence or purpose as a leader changed since beginning PLS, and 96 percent of Scholars indicated their exposure to and appreciation of a wider variety of perspectives increased since beginning PLS.

SAN DIEGO, CA, US, January 28, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — San Diego, Calif. – 1/28/2020 – ObjectSecurity, The Security Automation Company, today announced that it has recently been awarded a $2.5 Million Phase II Small Business Innovation Research ("SBIR") grant from the Navy to advance the capabilities of the US Department of Defense (DoD). Entitled "Red Team in a Box for Embedded and Non-IP Devices", the Phase II SBIR investment will help fund the development of an automated cybersecurity vulnerability assessment and penetration testing (VAPT) system. A core objective is to overcome the limitation of human red team resources for conducting vulnerability assessments on DoD systems, in particular, cyber-physical systems.

The $2.5M SBIR technology investment will help fund a portable, easy-to-use, automated vulnerability scanning solution to effectively and efficiently assess the cyber security posture of embedded devices. In Phase I, ObjectSecurity successfully developed a working proof of concept of the automated technology, supporting extracting the embedded device firmware via embedded systems ports (JTAG, UART etc.) followed by software vulnerability analysis beyond traditional signature-based assessments. The automated technology uses deep learning to intelligently and adaptively choose the best course of action, which ObjectSecurity researched as part of another prior SBIR contract that focused on traditional enterprise networks.

AMCD Urges Senator McConnell Not to Take up Bill Limiting Trump’s Options on Iran

A similar bill passed in the House of Representatives despite the fact that Iran stood down after the initial confrontation and all their fears were for naught.

“The only reason they want to limit President Trump on Iran is that his strategy is working,” added AMCD co-chair, Iranian-American, Hossein Khorram. “The Iran deal would essentially expire in 2025 anyway and then we’d be back where we started. President Trump is unwilling to kick the can down the road. He wants to make sure Iran never acquires nuclear weapons because he clearly understands what that would mean to America and the entire world.”

AMCD strongly condemns those Senators willing to side with Democrats and their appease-Iran-at-all-costs policy. We urge Senate Majority Leader McConnell to bury this ill-conceived legislation.
