942 Iran Schools Destroyed in US-Israeli Strikes

(MENAFN) Iran revealed Sunday that 942 schools have sustained damage across the country as a direct result of US-Israeli military strikes carried out since February 28, underscoring the sweeping scale of destruction inflicted on civilian infrastructure.

Government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani disclosed at a press conference that the damaged educational facilities would require between two and three months to be fully restored.

The toll on civilian life extends far beyond schools. Mohajerani confirmed that the offensive has obliterated 125,640 civilian units in total — among them 100,000 homes, 20,500 commercial shops, and 339 health centers. Reconstruction timelines for those structures, she warned, are estimated to stretch anywhere from three to 24 months.

In a move aimed at easing the burden on displaced residents, Mohajerani noted that citizens whose homes were damaged in the attacks can take advantage of housing loan opportunities to rebuild their units.

The human cost has been equally staggering. More than 3,000 lives have been lost since US-Israeli airstrikes on Iran commenced on February 28. Tehran responded with retaliatory strikes targeting Israel, Iraq, Jordan, and Gulf states hosting US military assets before a two-week ceasefire was declared earlier this week.

Despite that fragile pause in fighting, a diplomatic breakthrough remains elusive. Iranian and US delegations wrapped up a grueling 21-hour round of negotiations in Islamabad, Pakistan, early Sunday — without reaching an agreement.
