Report Shows US Military Employed Claude AI in Maduro’s Capture
The article, which referenced unnamed insiders, indicated that Claude was utilized through Anthropic’s collaboration with Palantir Technologies, a company that provides services to US defense bodies and federal law enforcement institutions.
After the mission concluded, an Anthropic staff member reportedly inquired with a counterpart at Palantir Technologies about the manner in which Claude had been applied during the operation, the report noted.
Anthropic is said to have become the first publicly identified AI company whose technology was involved in a classified mission conducted by the US Department of Defense. However, details remain uncertain regarding how the system—capable of functions ranging from examining PDF documents to directing autonomous drones—was actually implemented.
A representative for Anthropic declined to confirm whether Claude played a role in the operation, the report stated.
“Any use of Claude—whether in the private sector or across government—is required to comply with our Usage Policies, which govern how Claude can be deployed. We work closely with our partners to ensure compliance,” the spokesperson told the newspaper.
