Trump Weighs Limited Military Strike Against Iran
"I guess I can say I am considering that," Trump told reporters at the White House.
The admission followed a media report published Thursday revealing that Trump is weighing "an initial limited military strike" on Iranian military or government installations. According to the report, should Iran refuse to comply with U.S. nuclear demands, Washington would escalate to a broader campaign targeting Iranian government facilities — one potentially aimed at toppling the Tehran government entirely.
Trump had set a tight diplomatic window on Thursday, declaring that 10 to 15 days is "enough time" for Tehran to reach an agreement. "We're going to make a deal or get a deal one way or the other," he said.
Multiple U.S. media outlets reported that White House officials confirmed Trump is evaluating various military options against Iran but has yet to make a final decision. Last week, Trump went further, calling "regime change" in Iran "the best thing that could happen."
Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi offered a measured but firm response Friday, saying Tehran's draft nuclear proposal would be ready within two to three days, after which the two sides "may need another round of discussion before starting work toward, hopefully, a good conclusion."
In an interview with media, Araghchi expressed confidence that a "fair and equitable" deal remains within reach, but sharply criticized the U.S. military buildup in the region as "absolutely unnecessary and unhealthy," insisting that diplomacy remains the only viable path forward.
Araghchi left no ambiguity about Iran's preparedness on both fronts, stating: "we are prepared for diplomacy and negotiation as much as we are ready for war."
