Hezbollah Drones Limit Israeli Military Activity in Southern Lebanon

(MENAFN) The use of drones by the Hezbollah movement is reportedly constraining close to 80% of Israeli military activity in southern Lebanon, according to a news agency on Monday. The report indicated that the Israeli army is also struggling with a lack of specialized systems required to confront the escalating drone threat.

According to the news agency, Israeli military evaluations concluded that drones carrying explosives have significantly weakened the army’s ability to operate freely in southern Lebanon, while also contributing to casualties among Israeli forces.

The report further explained that numerous military missions are no longer being conducted during daytime hours because of fears surrounding potential drone strikes.

In an effort to address the increasing danger, anti-drone devices are reportedly being supplied to only a small number of troops within each military unit due to limited availability, the news agency added.

The broadcaster also quoted Israeli military intelligence officials as saying that Hezbollah has recently transitioned from a centralized command system to a guerrilla warfare model.

The sources stated that the group has become more dependent on small mobile units carrying out swift assaults while relocating between villages across southern Lebanon.

According to the news agency, Hezbollah operatives are now functioning with broader autonomy, partly as a result of the deaths of senior commanders belonging to the Radwan Force.

Earlier on Monday, Hezbollah announced that it had launched 11 drone and missile operations targeting Israeli soldiers and military vehicles in southern Lebanon and northern Israel, noting that the attacks were carried out in response to ongoing Israeli ceasefire violations.
