Distinguished Visitors Witness Live J-REX Missile Launch and Tech Showcase at White Sands Missile Range
Overseen by the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of War for Prototyping and Experimentation, the event highlighted efforts to accelerate the adoption of advanced operational capabilities for U.S. and allied forces. Hon. Emil Michael, Under Secretary of War for Research and Engineering and Chief Technology Officer for the Department of War, was amongst the distinguished visitors throughout the day’s activities.
The mission focuses on accelerating technology adoption and tackling critical capability gaps for the Joint Force. Its primary aim is to conduct live launches of affordable precision munitions, evaluate system maturity and assess how well weapon platforms perform in realistic operational scenarios.
To meet program requirements, the LCCM must perform effectively against both maritime and ground targets, as well as demonstrate survivability and operational suitability. The success of today’s demonstration marks a significant step toward enabling these advanced capabilities for future deployment.
J-REX 26.3 highlights the Department of War’s ongoing commitment to joint prototyping and technology demonstrations, as well as its drive to rapidly deliver solutions that sharpen the competitive edge of U.S. and allied warfighters.
