Partnership at McAlester Army Ammunition Plant Powers Next-Gen Defense Production
The partnership is aligned with the Army Materiel Command’s Reimagining the Organic Industrial Base through the adaptation of traditional munitions production for modern drone warfare.
For decades, MCAAP has served a vital role in national defense by delivering premier explosive ordnance to American warfighters.
Under this new partnership, MCAAP serves as the provider of munitions for Perennial Autonomy's drone fleet by manufacturing, loading, and delivering combat ready payloads for the unmanned air systems.
Pairing MCAAP’s proven, high-standard explosive manufacturing with Perennial Autonomy’s advanced guidance ensures the aircrafts are armed with reliable and lethal ordnance ready for contested environments.
MCAAP, who is traditionally celebrated for manufacturing large munitions, is continuing to adapt to the evolving battlefield requirements to maintain readiness.
“Integrating Perennial Autonomy’s advanced guidance systems with MCAAP’s proven ordnance manufacturing directly answers the call to modernize the OIB”, said Brian Lott, MCAAP’s Civilian Deputy. “This collaboration acts as a critical force multiplier, ensuring that next-generation drone fleets are armed with the precise, lethal, and dependable capabilities required to dominate modern, high-threat environments.”
Beyond strategic alignment, partnerships serve as a vital economic engine for the installation’s workforce by off-setting sustainment costs and providing an avenue for infrastructure enhancements and skill retention.
Additionally, the steady workload ensures the retention of MCAAP’s highly skilled civilian workforce that includes chemists, load-assemble-pack specialists, and quality inspectors who have years of specialized experience.
“This partnership with Perennial Autonomy is a testament to the agility and generational skill of the workforce at McAlester,” said Col. Curtis Perkins, MCAAP’s commander. “Our employees are second to none. By applying their deep technical expertise to next-generation drone munitions, we are proving that our historic facilities and our people can rapidly pivot to support the warfighter.”
MCAAP, a subordinate installation of the Army Sustainment Command, produces, receives, stores, ships, renovates, and demilitarizes conventional ammunition.
As modern combat relies more on drones and automated technology, this partnership keeps the OIB ready for the future. Together, MCAAP and Perennial Autonomy pair combat-tested munitions expertise with cutting-edge air systems, ensuring American warfighters continue to have dependable munitions.
