FATHOMWERX Summit 2026 Concludes, Driving Maritime and Defense Innovation Forward
PORT HUENEME, California — After two days of showcasing cutting-edge technology and building strategic networks, the FATHOMWERX Summit 2026 concluded Oct. 15, 2026, at the FATHOMWERX spaces in Port Hueneme, California.
The annual event brought together private industry innovators, academic researchers, allied partners, and Department of War (DOW) representatives to accelerate the development and deployment of next-generation maritime capabilities. Keynote speakers and interactive panels highlighted the critical need for collaborative, dual-use technology solutions to meet modern defense challenges.
"We have three major warfare centers working alongside local government, industry partners, and academic institutions, from high schools to colleges, to cultivate and retain regional talent. This collaborative effort supports the federal government, the military, and ultimately, a great cause for our nation." said Capt. Constance Solina, Commanding Officer of Naval Facilities and Expeditionary Warfare Center NAVFAC EXWC.
The summit featured a robust array of technical demonstrations, including autonomous vertical-takeoff-and-landing drone prototypes designed for ship-to-shore logistics, advanced drone propeller propulsion systems, and high-efficiency plasma air filters. These hands-on exhibits allowed participants to interface directly with innovators and military stakeholders to evaluate operational viability.
Mark Thompson, co-director of the Tech Bridge with the Office of Research and Technology Applications (ORTA), delivered opening remarks to kick off the event, emphasizing the importance of bridging the gap between commercial research and military requirements.
Collaborating organizations included Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC), and the Naval Facilities Engineering and Expeditionary Warfare Center (NAVFAC EXWC).
Headquartered at Naval Base Ventura County, NAVFAC EXWC is a command comprised of federal civilians, contractors, and military personnel delivering research, development, test, and evaluation, as well as in-service engineering solutions across expeditionary, ocean, and shore technical domains. Through initiatives like the FATHOMWERX Summit, the command continues to foster the rapid transit of technology from laboratory benches directly to the warfighter.
